Where Do You Get Your Bituminous Coal and a Going Price?

badfish, if you want some of the best eastern bituminous coal I've ever burned, with no clinkers, then yes you will want to go to valier coalyard for their high vol kittaning coal, I highly reccomend their nut coal.

Berlin, thanks for the recommendation. Looks like Valier is just shy of five hours from me, so that works. What can I expect to pay per ton for nut?

We Live in NW Missouri and we have been burning Bit coal for about 3 years. We have been buying it in bulk (loose) directly from the mine from Phoenix Coal Company in Vinita OK. They are very nice and easy to work with. The only gripe I have is the price, it has gone up this year from $70 a ton to a whopping $120.00 a ton. I have purchased some anthracite coal in bags this week from a local dealer in Jamesport Missouri and am very happy with it, but it is also expensive at 6.50 a 40lb bag. The anthracite seems to burn about 4 times longer but not as hot. I believe I could get through the year with about 70 bags if I go that way.

Comparing the price Phoenix is charging with other posts for loose coal it seems they are about 2 times as high for bit coal.

being from chillicothe, mo, I think vinita ok is much too far to go for coal that's expensive and probably not any better than coal from illinois or missouri. I have a list of mines in that area I will see if I can find it and post some sources possibly closer to you.

Thanks. Yah if I could find a mine closer I would probably get it there so any info you could give would be great. Whats sad is there is an old abandon coal mine about 1 mile from my house in Winston, MO. And I have to drive 3 hrs to get coal. Its crazy. My dad told me to get a pick and a light and get to work

Where is the closest place that you guys know of to get bituminous nut size coal to Allegany County, NY? I have a Mark III that I would like to try it in.

I know this is a very old post but I live near Chillicothe MO and am having a hard time finding coal. Do you still live around here and do you still use coal?

I’ll post this in case anyone from Illinois is looking. It was $85 a ton last year 2021. It’s small. 1”-1.5”. They call it stove coal but it isn’t. It’s more like stoker. Pretty volatile.
