That makes sense. Can't say for sure where it ended since the top half is melted. I suppose I should attach a new one to the hopper wall away from the burner end.rockwood wrote:If this tube ends in the hopper it is there to make positive pressure in the hopper so you won't have smoke coming back through the auger tube to the hopper when the stoker is running. It keeps the fire from burning back through the auger as well.

I've been thinking about adding a tube like that to my Anchor Stoker, what inside diameter is yours?

It shouldn't get hot enough in the hopper to melt the tube.MontanaJoe wrote:Can't say for sure where it ended since the top half is melted.
The tube is metal and is about 3/8" ID on my stoker.Short Bus wrote:what inside diameter is yours?

Mine is plastic. 1/2" inside dia.
I'm trying to adjust the air intake right now. It tends to be a strong flame but more orange than yellow in my way of seeing. I'm at 2500 ft. above sea level here. Don't know if that matters. When I open it to 4 turns from closed it does give off some sparks but does not look white to me, as per the manual.

It's better to choose a setting, let it run for a while and monitor it. When you think you've got it fairly close let it run overnight and see how it looks before changing it again.
