Hi All, Couldn’t help myself , managed to purchase this stove from a farm in deepest wales 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿. Looking forward to tearing it down and refurbishing it 😀. Think I read another forum member said it’s around 35,000btu , think that’s about 10kw , so should be good for heating a largish room . Know they are really well built stoves , parts are still available but are getting scarce ( and expensive ) but I just love the lattice window . Haven’t got anywhere to put it but still had to have it 🤣🤣! Hopefully the seller will get back to me for a day for the courier to pick it up . Would love any member who has experience with this type of stove to put there input / expertise about it . All input gratefully received 😃.

Does it shake? If you don't really need it, could you burn wood? Are you allowed to burn wood?

Yeah it’s a multi fuel so it could burn wood , but it’s got a riddling grate, to shake the ash , so for longer burn times anthracite is the king ! Even buying man made smokeless ovoids are expensive . Think every type of fuel is getting expensive as gas/ electricity have gone sky high !! Think people are Looking for alternative ways to heat there homes , and coal merchants are now upping there prices accordingly!

Hi , Well it didn’t take much work to bring up the coalbrookdale much wenlock mk1 up to scratch . Just a good cleaning and polishing, new high temp ceramic glass and seals , and it looks good as new 👌. All the riddling bars are straight and the everything is good , no cracks or warping anywhere . Want to try and hook it up in the lounge , know it won’t look right as the fireplace is ornate but I just want to see it up and running . According to the manufacturer it will take 50lb of coal or 40 lb of logs in the firepot. It says it will heat a area 8000cubic ft which is pretty impressive considering it’s not a large stove . What I love is the build quality , really thick cast iron , love the lattice door to view the fire 🔥 as well . It’s getting pretty parky where I live 0degrees to - 4 degrees so it would be the ideal time to try it out . Trouble is it weighs 270 lbs can’t see me humping that it on my own from the back garden. Maybe get a few mates to give me a lift in with it at weekend. Will update if it happens 👍.
