Hello-
Lurker and first time poster.
We have a 1991 (I think) Efel Harmony 086.65 Coal stove. Very happy with this unit!
I'm in need of replacing the 2 piece cast iron hopper. Woodsmanspartsplus has the parts for $700 plus shipping - yikes...
I see our local coal stove shop has new similar stoves with hoppers made out of 3/8 plate steel. The difference is our Efel has the fire right at the exit of the hopper (just above the grate) and the new stoves at the shop have more of a pyramid of coal out of the bottom of the hopper and the fire is like a foot below at the grate.
1-Is there any reason I could not weld up my own 3/8 inch plate replacement hopper for my efel? Would the coal burn up the bottom?
2-Any other sources for a replacement efel factory parts ?
Thanks for any insight - Chris

Maybe find out how thick the steel is for Hitzer hoppers and use that size. Im sure Hitzer would tell you if you called them.
Mine burnt out after a couple years and I hand fed it after that until I cracked the grate. I pushed it to hard Im sure. Nice looking stoves. I miss the big window.
