Not familiar with the design. Suspect pre 1900 or early 1900s. Pictures of the internals would help. Looks like intended to go into fireplace.

I think my dad turned it so it would work for gas too, it sat in an alcove in our house for years, ornamental, it was never installed. Do you know how much it could be worth? Someone gave me a quote but I don’t want to accept if it is too low! I’d love to keep it but I have no room for it in my house unfortunately:(

The gas conversion may have compromised the ability to convert back to coal, if parts were altered or removed. it probably lacks safety features found on a modern gas burner.

Newer Godins go for about $400 but this is a special case. It may also have come with a decorative surround for a more finished look in a fireplace. You will have to research Godin history as best you can. Web sites of European dealers might well have the same stove.

Need to see pics of the insides of your heater. Also the area if gas line was added.

Pull away from wall, and check back side for cracks.

Round style and Oval styles, 400 is ok starting price depending on the insides.

Yours sits on the hearth in front of fireplace
hole. No mantel or surround on this model. Might also have wheels under it, to roll across floor to room that needs to be heated.
Start at 800-600$ you can always lower the price if no interest. Your location affects price also, Northeast,Midwest,Pacific.

The high end models are much bigger dollar heaters.

Looks to be missing the coal basket/cradle.
The area behind big open door.

Here is a link to what basket might look like.
The first couple posts are of basket. Page 2 half way down is our overseas experts discussing its operation. Georgelap and Wal. This link is a big dollar heater.

Gallia insert

Missing basket really hurts the value, but still a pretty heater.

A similar heater but French, an E. Chaboche
In Richmond,VA on marketplace. Is listed at 500 for 6 weeks, not selling, I got one eye on that one.

1stdibbs web page has a couple big dollar styles. Just search Godin, they will show up.

Since the coal grates are gone I think part of value of the stove would be determined by the age of the gas conversion. Is it simply a valve & burner or does it have a code compliant safety pilot and controls on the side/back?
