Hi there everyone,
I just registered in this great site. I have a question, does anyone have the front ashtray pan for sale or know any websites that ships to USA ? I am from Eastern Long Island, NY. If anyone lives and have the piece close by I can pick it up. I contactad some companies in France but none ships here to New York, USA. I started rebuilding a used Godin 3721.

yep. I got it running perfectly. But the problem is the coal i am getting from tractor supply is wet all the time. Bagged 40lbs nut coal. sometimes i am getting tough time liting it up. I use charcoal outside and then i put the anthracite on top. Finally burns. But the stove is nice. It gives nice heat long time. Thank you.

Glad you're still with us. Hope you post your story on our introduction thread.
I've always liked the Godins, and maybe will put one in my sunroom someday.
You say you're having start-up problems? And using charcoal..outside. Have you tried dumping in a couple pounds of matchlight for starters, then adding some anthracite coal? Do they recommend nut, or pea coal in that stove? I don't think the wet coal should prevent start up problems, unless it's dripping outta the bag, into the fire.
But seriously, we would like to hear your history, and of course some pics of your install. I see you're already ahead of the game, and know how to post pictures, so you're one up on many.

I will try your recommendation about strating up the stove with matchlite. Thanks. Here are my pictures. I will buy another spare Godin 3721 soon and rebuild it just in case. There are plenty on Facebook Marketplace. Thanks.

Your Godin will not stay lit unless you fairly rapidly build up the coal base above that front grate. Air will bypass the coal until that happens.

You are right, the more coal I put in the stove the more lit it stays. Thanks.

In your pics KP, I can see where most of your heat will be going. Straight up to the ceiling. I'm guessing you probably already have installed ceiling fans to move the heat around. And your room looks very stately. I'm always envious of people who have fireplaces, because they have so much to offer. Very nice.
