I bought my stove last year and put it in my wood shop. Due to a family members medical condition I was not using it and it rusted because of the poor conditions in the garage. The barrel looks as though it was blued? I sanded off the rust and attempted to reblue it but it will just not take. I'm using Birchwood Casey super blue. It doesn't seem to darken at all.

Does anyone have a suggestion? What type of metal is the barrel exactly? (its magnetic)

Also does anyone know how to disassemble it? It seems as though I my have to remove the fire brick first but they are not coming out- they dont wiggle or budge.

Hi,

I just purcased a Petit Godin 3720 that was rusted. I sanded the sheet metal down with fine steel wool, taped off the porcelain with paint masking tape and sprayed it with heat resistant paint. * * See pictues attaced.

I used Krylon High Heat Resistant spray paint - Black.
Rust-Oleum makes a good heat resistant spray paint as well.
I got the Krylon at Lowes Home Improvement and Home Depot sells the Rust-Oleum.

Good luck,
Dee
