All very nice Pierre but you need to urgently be searching for the next Baltimore heater, spend 5 years rebuilding and optimizing and sell it to me. Time is not on my side.

Hi Again , As you lads have seen my Columbian stove works stove in the lounge, and the newly installed stove in one of the bedrooms, thought you might like to see my original stove in the orangery . It's a esse dragon mk2 ( about 50years old) . Had a false fireplace constructed out of reclaimed bricks, and the large beam was reclaimed out of a church that was been demolished. Looks authentic, and encloses the flue pipe . Stove will burn coal/smokless/wood or even peat . Had it on Christmas Day it was -1outside but 29 inside . So nice and toasty ha ha . Wife says 3 stoves in the house is more than enough, but never say never ha ha . Just want to thank everyone who had kind comments on the stoves I've restored . Much appreciated.

Those are some stoves and settings to be proud of. Are your stoves placed in such a way, that there aren't any "cold" spots in the house? Don't know what your basement situation is, but when the Mrs. isn't looking, maybe you could sneak another one down there. :D

Hi Again , Just thought you might like to see the finishing touches to the mock fireplace . Picked up the Victorian cast iron fender that was in need of a lot of elbow grease to get it to the point you see now . Same with the French marble clock . Anyway hope it's to everyone taste . Won't be posting again as my wife says 3 stoves are enough ha ha . Just want to say thank you to everyone who took the time to look at my restored stoves , and all the kind comments. Take care , wal .

Hi Wal!
Realy beautiful stove! Your coal looks like Phurnacite...

Can you upload some pics from the interior? I am 90% sure that this stove has the same operation as E. Chaboche anthracite stoves.

George.

Hi , This is the inside of the stove , steel/ cast iron . The elongated holes at the back of the stove pull air thru to the flu pipe . The flu damper is built into the stove and you can see if you push it inward it closes the holes , but even fully pushed in it will not completely close the pipe from drawing . There is also a mild steel plate with drilled holes , but if it's fitted the ash builds up at the sides . Found it much more effective if the plate is left out and the riddling of the coals and ash are easily dropped into the ash pan below .

Looks like salamandre style coal basket.

How many hours can you burn with one refill?
Also, can you tell us about the stove temperatures?

I have never tried to burn coal ovoids to my stoves and need some information :)

Hi George, I start with newspaper/ klin dried kindling. Leave the top doors closed / and the bottom slightly opened , I put about 12 excel ovoids on the kindling , with the flue damper fully opened, and the primary air vents fully open , when the fire is flaming hard , I put 3/4 shovels of ovoids on top of the kindling . If I leave the damper / primary air fully open the flu temp can reach 500 f , so I close the flue damper to 1/2 and the primary air to 1/2 closed as well . If I do that the temp on the flu pipe will drop to around 220f and if I keep it at this setting and fill my stove , I will get around 12 hrs , with around 12 lbs of excel . You were talking about purnicite , which is made by a different company to excel . Excel has high heat , low sulphur, and it will all turn to ash , if burned at 220f or above . purncite I believe is quite difficult to light , and leaves klinker . Hope that helps
