I just installed the same stove.. It doesn't seem that my glass door can open.. how does yours open.. Also any help on this I had to install 6"
chimney so I have an adaptor from the 4 3/4" burns fine but hopper lasting 24hr. Not giving as much heat as I had anticipated. I have had it set on manual or auto 6 full heat no difference I can see damper on bottom Rightt side its fully open. Any info greatly appreciated.

The stove was made in three sizes.

To judge heat output, watch the fire. If it is bright , almost yellow hot that is the max you will get Dull orange means you can boot up more.

Misprint Three hours is all hot flame lasts for. Top of stove temp gets to 475. Then drops over those 3 hours to 200 or less and then I open up above grate and have to leave top open like I say above. Gaskets are old gonna burn it out today and clean real good replace gaskets and try again. Also the lever on left side of ash door was up 0 moved down to 2 burning nut anthracite.

Just staring at glow so here more info I'm not giving up on this stove had been given to me 10 hrs ago and couldn't take another cold floor winter. I put in basement ran 6" double wall chimney thru wall and up 20' have adapter from the 120mm outlet to about 3' 6" stove pipe before double wall. If I can keep it at 400 top temp my upstairs is perfect. Played with damper open on manual good half inch. On auto when she gets up to 400 closes down to about eighth inch on 5 so been leaving on manual to keep air going.. I get no smoke in house no matter which door I open. All get draft in when open checked that with smoking.

With anthracite you may or may not have flames thru the whole burn. It depends on the heat output you have it set at.

It sounds like your draft is healthy but it's unknown if it's too much without a manometer.

But like you said, don't give up on it. It could take a few months of trial and error to learn and tune the stove in to what you want it to do

Can we get some pictures?

Hmmm, nice stove and it appears you have a bright and healthy fire in there. Unfortunately I don't know where to start with guidance. Hopefully someone with experience will join in ;)

Ash door open during picks no change. To get it to glow as in picks top door was open for awhile. If I open top she start gloweing and dancing fast with the way it burning right now. I can tell it's going down with top closed ash still open and nothing. I read on a add posted that it's a down draft stove could something be blocked. Top temp now 300 but she dropped 20 Deg in 20 Mon with ash door open. Could it be coal size haven't tried pea. First night burn I added some stove coal on top of nut thinking night burn might eat up all nut that was a mistake had to pull them out in morning half burnning lol fun fun fun...

You state this is a down draft stove, is there a lever to change the draft setting from direct draft to down draft? Now hear me out: in down draft with the top door open the draft, (in coming air), is feeding the fire as it passes down to the exit. Some pic's of the primary air opening could help us. It is reminding me of a Surdiac stove. this stove may need a tare down, cleaning of the passages, and sealing of all joints. If you have a heat exchanger in the rear, take a good close look at it checking for cracks and all seams. Are you filling the stove all the way? Are you clearing all the ash? Have you tried Pea size coal?
Good luck.

Mike.

I am now officially a slave to my stove it's like a fickle chick. Top been open now for half hour and it proving me wrong now. She don't want to go just a dull glow. If she goes I'll just clean it out real good start again. I'll win the battle and get it burnning like Nagasaki old santa gonna have a come to front door when I get this thing cooking. Ho Ho Ho
