Hand Fed Coal Stove: Saey Hanover 1
Coal Size/Type: Nut Coal

Post by kkswim » Thu. Dec. 15, 2016 10:20 pm

Two story House, Coal stove in basement, attempting to get air upstairs. Put in two registers, one near coal stove, other register on opposite side house, but same stretch of room. Now I bought a 6 in inline fan with 460 cfm for the one register, will be using the other register for return.( I know its most likely against code.) Would I be better off sucking the hot air from downstairs and blowing it up. Or Sucking the cold air from upstairs and blowing it down. The stairs have a door at the top that I leave open in order to try and get circulation. Currently I am trying to blow the hot air from the basement upstairs through the ducting, unfortunately it does not feel as warm as I expected. 13 degrees outside, upstairs I'm able to hold at 61-63 degrees. Any advice?!

Thanks for reading, look forward to the replies!

When I had my hand fired in the basement, I had better luck of circulating the cold air back down and letting the heat rise on its own, it wasn't perfect, but its easier to move cold air.
