Tried to push cold air down the stairs last winter, with little success ☹️
The stairs in my raised ranch are half closed off so it felt that warm air just got stalled somewhere right in the middle of it. This winter with hopefully more powerful and consistent heating stove, not just 3-4 hours of burn in the evenings, I am sure I will be expirementing all possiblities!

Ah, so only a half story and not enough "thermal driving head" The greater amount and duration of heat from the coal will help a great deal in getting circulation going.
