Got the stove finished, chimney up and firing it daily just as cold weather hit. So far no bad experiences. Seems to work nicely with coal or wood, although length of wood is a limitation.

Beautiful stove. That baby will heat you up on a load of coal. I'm still amazed at the heat my Star Herald puts out and it's only a 10" firepot. It's fairly deep(14") though but still amazing amount of heat these cylinder stove produce.

You can put the wood vertical inside that stove. It's harder to pack it that way, you really have to pick and choose your pieces, do a lot of jiggling around, but they will burn real nice that way once packed in well. Use your top door damper more for burning that way...FarmKid wrote:Got the stove finished, chimney up and firing it daily just as cold weather hit. So far no bad experiences. I just love Germer stoves. They have an air of dignity and high quality. Germer's are one of my top 10 recommended stoves when people ask me what they should look for. You will have good success with coal. You can burn both Anthracite and Bituminous in it. Like dj says, stack the wood in it long ways.
