- Coal Size/Type: Anthracite pea and nut mix. Bituminous lump
The idea sounds good to me, however after watching several videos of a Chinese QJ steam locomotive operating today in China. The bituminous coal that is available in China is much different than the bituminous coal we get here. I don't know about heat content, but what I have noticed is that China coal appears to have a consistency of powder not bigger solid pieces like available here in the states. How well will larger pieces burn on the grates in the pictures.

I do like the size of the stove!!
Seems like it would be just the right size for a small cabin!! (Way too tall though)
Of course I think I might would rather make up a mini Kodiak or DSM type stove of that grate size, but it does get me to thinking!!
Hmmm!
I may have to start a thread about mini coal stoves for hunting or ice shacks etc and see where that goes!! I bet a couple of hundred pounds of coal would keep a 10"-12" OD stove running for a long time!!

This may have been posted before, but here is a small stove. Not cheap though.

Yea I have seen the ones they make ask well as a couple of other marine type stoves that are really nice!! Unless I could find a used one I expect that I could make one a lot cheaper. It does make one think though!!YZF1R wrote:SheepDog68 said "I may have to start a thread about mini coal stoves for hunting or ice shacks etc and see where that goes!!
