Thats interesting info Wal. If I see some local again I may give them a try, depending on price and distance of course. The ad I see on facebook is a distance from me.

£375 = $518 just can’t understand why anthracite is so expensive in the uk ? How much do you pay for it over in the USA ?

My area is higher than most as Im 1000 miles from the source but $300 a ton bagged. Some here get it under $200 in bulk loose picked up at breakers. Bagged is always more.

Guys that are close to the breaker and can pick up can get it for under $200 a ton. I get bulk delivery for $235 per ton from a guy that's located between me and the breaker.

For bulk, I pay $185 delivered and my father in law pays $175 delivered. We do live in coal country...

So if you are paying around $200 a tonne which is £ 144 , I can understand how it is economical to run a large stove or baseburner. As you can see I was paying £375 a tonne , nearly 3 times the amount that you pay , so you can understand why I was looking for a cheaper alternative.

Just want to say I love my baseburner it heats most of the back of the house , and the other 2 stoves keep the rest of the house warm . I wouldn’t swap them for anything , it has been my dream to own a baseburner for years and now I own one I am really happy , it produces plenty of heat and looks beautiful, just wish the uk would come more in line with you lads in the states price wise on anthracite ha ha !

If one buys a TT load about 24 tons the bulk price in the New England area can be can be in the $220/ton range...
Purchased in 40 lb bags it can be $400-600 per ton...
