It's a spare piece. I just wanted to show you the placement of bottom plate.

Tried that, heat, cold and after all my work of course they snapped. ;-( Drilled and taped a larger hole for new bolts.Holdencoal wrote: ↑Tue. Jan. 21, 2020 3:36 pmI would soak the screws in kroil over night and see if you can turn them.

Thanks, I've put in new bolt holes and working on putting the gasket back in. What do you suspect the raised section on the left of your picture is for? I thought it was a route for the gasket to go into but its too small.

Right at that point I see a slanted splice of the gasket. The prior pieces also have something going on there in that location. Why, I don;t know, but it looks like a place to anchor the gasket. It might reveal the placement of the pieces, since they can be turned 180 degrees.knightscove wrote: ↑Tue. I've got it put back together. I was able to anchor one end of the gasket in one of the groves of the plate. I could not figure out what the second grove was for. I cemented the other end down as best I could. Not the greatest, sure would like to figure out the trick sometime. Thanks for your helpfranco b wrote: ↑Tue. Time to fire up. With higher output you will need 8 hour tending times. You will need a chimney with decent draft. A big fireplace flue on an outside wall might be trouble.

Looking good.
The hopper should be in the highest position for deepest coal bed.
Use the slicing poker to clear ash and make sure to close the three slots afterward.
Burn only dry coal to preserve the chimney liner.

Looks good!!! Hopefully you used an anti-seize in the new threads? I like to use Permatex 24125 for high temp connections.

Knightscove, just found your thread. Good job explaining your issues and congrats on your ability to post pics. Well done. Makes life easier for troubleshooting. Looks like you had some challenges of locations and transporting. I like that telescoping lift. Probably wasn't much fun dragging it through the mud, but invaluable on getting the stove to the upper level. Congrats on your install. Looks nice.

Would you recommend high density rope when replacing the gaskets on the doors? The ones on there now seem very dense but maybe just from age. Thanks

The original gaskets were asbestos. The only gasket I have replaced was the ash door using Rutland Grapho-Glas three eighths inch with no adhesive. Works fine for two years now.

Does your stove have an open hole behind the magnetic latch for the outer ash door? The second pic is a flashlight behind it to highlight hole. Not sure if this is designed to be an air feed or I'm missing a bolt. Thanks
