WOW! Someone let the ashes get too full and so blocked the air across that bowed grate!

Curwensville True Value has some grates.

Then there are a few online stove part stores

Is that what caused the grate to bow? I would normally clean out ash once a day. Sometime two if it was really cold and windy.
I've looked at some online stored and haven't had any luck yet.

That's one reason.. Or maybe you were running it too hot. Keep the ash pan dumped so that incoming combustion air has no encumberment to cooling the grates. Are you burning bituminous coal in it? Or anthracite?

Lightning, thanks for the info. I've been burning bituminous coal. Also, I'm having trouble finding grates.

Bit coal can burn extremely hot. Try keeping some ash on the grates by shaking lightly and as mentioned keep that ash pan dumped. McGiever mentioned a place for new grates in the post above, did you happen to check there?

I've look online but have not found any grates yet. I have not checked the store mentioned yet.
