I may or may not have over loaded the fire the other night..(I know better but still rushed the loading process and put 2 buckets on without letting it catch up...
Not gonna lie slightly impressive how much smoke it made I just hope no neighbors had their windows open. And im glad the house next to me has been empty for a yr
Smoked out most of the town

Lol. I did the same thing several weeks ago but I live out in the country. A guy driving by ran up to my house thinking it was on fire. I told him I was just starting a coal fire. He cocked his head and curiously said “a coal fire?”

That’s how I do it. Or front then back. With my bit it’s a real balancing act between smoke and flame. It can easily go one way or another. A little too much bit added and the smoke will extinguish the flame then I’m scrambling trying to get it relit without blowing the pipe apart. I think my coal has too many fines in it. I’m making a screener

I usually load all but a small pot where I raked a few big embers to burn off the gass but I had my head up my butt and just tossed to buckets in and shut the door wothout thinking...
I must be the only guy in central pa that has both anthracite and bit coal stoves in his house

The lignite I burned had lots of fines, more like dust. I left small pieces in it and filled empty pop 12 packs and plastic grocery bags and threw one in before bedtime at the front of the stove. It burned slower and made it easy to reload in the morning as it would still be burning. Your results may vary.fig wrote: ↑Thu. Jan. 07, 2021 9:34 amThat’s how I do it. Or front then back.
