Pocahontas Vs. Some of the best bituminous coal ever mined. Also checked out Bramwell WV. Where all the coal barons lived. Interesting little history today with the wife.

I burn a little Pocahontas from W.V. in my WM stove. I usually bring a pickup truck load back when at Pocahontas Roadkill Festival the end of September. Dad and I visit relatives while we are there, the Buzzard's and the Khro's. That is Not a joke.

Real nice down there.

Did you check out the massive cemetery on the hill at the edge of town? There are some amazing monuments and even some vaults and the location is gorgeous.

Not so majestic here in central Pa ,Weve got a ghost town with a mine fire under it, and a few towns with houses in various stages of falling into subsidence holes mined out underneath them. Lots of culm banks ,sulfur water streams and bootleg holes. They do drop a big lump of coal on New years eve here. Im a former deep miner ,got out in 77. The good news is,good quality anthracite is relatively cheap here and the town i live in has an estimated 100 million tons of the black stuff still in the ground. Probably will stay there.
