So I plan on buying some bit this summer for the next burn season. I will probably buy 2 tons because of how far I have to go to get it. How long can this stuff sit out in the elements and not break down? It will be under a shelter I plan on making this summer but I’m sure will get hit some with rain.
I mainly want it for the shoulder seasons to extend my burn times when burning wood. And the amount I am getting I assume will last 2-4 years.

I would highly suggest you try a few hundred pounds before committing to a few tons.

As in how it burns or if it last in the weather?

I could buy a ton but they don’t sell any less then that. It’s 85 bucks so I won’t be to mad if I don’t like it, and a buddy has a outside furnace and would take it if I don’t like it.
Are you worried about the mess or the smell?

Both. It's nothing like anthracite. It reeks like tires on fire, the soot clogs the flue pipe, puff backs can be explosive and stink up your house, it requires a lot more attention and heat output peaks and troughs unlike anthracite that is quite steady. That's the good bad and ugly of it. I will say that some bit is better than others, maybe you'll get lucky lol.

I will try and see if I can get a half ton. Were you mixing with wood or straight bit? I was planning on getting big chunks to throw in with the wood
