Chimney Soot

- Other Heating: Jotul 118b woodstove, dual fuel heat pump/condensing propane furnace
So this may be a dumb question but can the soot from bituminous coal cause a chimney fire or is it inert? Thanks

Right ha! Like a house fire. Makes sense. I guess anything burns or changes state if you get it hot enough.

More likely to plug up the chimney than catch fire as I understand it.
