Yes, the Clayton eats this. It performs well. I covered the fire at 8pm Sunday night, and it's still chugging away as I type.

Hey, SwPaDon. I too just received my winters coal supply. And I was looking as your pictures. I don't no if you can tell for my pictures, but my coal seems to have a lot of coal dust. Like coal dirt or something. I can only see this as slowing response burn time. Is a lot of ground up coal found in bulk coal.

All coal will have some dust. It is my understanding that when they bag the Anthracite coal, they wet the coal to keep the dust down. The dust in your coal can make a small mess in your house if you aren't careful with it..UncleDoDat wrote:Hey, SwPaDon. I too just received my winters coal supply. And I was looking as your pictures. My coal is different than yours. I'm using Bituminous coal, it's a soft coal. The fine stuff you see on the top of my pile can come from pieces breaking up during transport. The dust in mine can actually ignite, in midair, while I'm shoveling it into the furnace if I have a hot fire going at the time.
Hope this helps, Don

Yeah, that helps. I had no idea that coal was bituminus. Looks like anthracite. I don't know my coal seems to have an excessive amount of fine dust like coal. This is my first time have this quantity of coal.

I put about 1 1/2 ton in my basement with the front end loader, then put the rest on the concrete pad next to my garage for temporary storage. I can fit 3 ton in my basement total.
