Hi again everyone, I haven't posted for awhile but I sure do enjoy the information on this site. I have another question I hope someone can help me answer. To make a long story short, I switched to soft coal because I can get it sometimes free. Well, this summer I got about 4 tons of bit out of an old basement in Cleveland using five gallon buckets and just started burning a little. Good stuff, seems to be low ash, does a great job, burns hot and lasts a long time.

So what's the question? The ashes are about as red as I have ever seen and I mean RED. I was wondering if any one could possibly tell me where it was mined and if they are still in operation because I would defiantly buy more of this red ash coal if it were available.

Thanks

It could be anywhere, the red just means lots of iron. be careful of firing it too hot, you may end up with clinkers. Thompson bros. (north lima ohio #4) has dark red ash. 330 549 3979
