I'm pondering a question and maybe someone can help. I want to use bit coal as the fuel for small outdoor bonfires. I have one of those portable firebox things that you buy from Lowe's. Would that work? If not, what could I do to make it work? Do they make those things designed for bit coal? We're not talking a fire to last for days. Just a few hours at a time.
I know it'll have that bit smoke & smell, but that's part of my attraction of wanting to do it.

I'm pretty sure it would work. I had a wood fire going on a no-name el-cheapo brand fire table and dumped a shovel full of bit coal which had no problem igniting and burning up. I had to poke the fire and turn the coals a few times to get it all to burn up.

Go for it!!!! Put a metal grate on the fire and throw some on see how it works. It will burn mixed with wood if you throw some in.

A good high-vol bit, or eastern ky bit would be what you want for burning in a firepit. I've burned valier's in an open fire.

I'll have to see exactly what I got. I bought one bag of it as an after thought wanting to try it last time I went to buy my last load of rice coal.
