Ok guys what is the best way to get lump coal hauled in.
Thinking about gettind some from Decker Montana they have pea and stoker and lump which is what I am after.
What works best?
Some one with a side dump for lump or some thing else?
I have lump now from center north dakota that is lignite coal works ok but was hoping for more heat out of the coal
when I need to order more.
Whats the average trucking price for hauling there to eastern South Dakota?
Thanks

Was hoping for only 10 ton but I don't think I can get any one for less than a load.charlie wrote:I have no idea, but I'll ask around. Have you looked into getting coal from one of the Gillette mines?
No I have not thinking that trucking cost will be cheaper with a closer source.
What were your thoughts?
How much are you wanting to get and how often?
Guess I need price to figure out what I can order.
Thanks for the reply.

ok I found a local guy who goes out to Wolf Mountian in Decker Montana twice a week.
I can get pea coal from them but my question is will this work with my Hizter 82 they say
it is bigger than a walnut in size will this work ok for me?
Has any one used there coal and what are your thoughts about it.
Thanks

If you get 10 tons shipped in, you will pay for a full truck load. weather you fill the truck to capacity or not. To get your money's worth, get 24 tons or split a load with someone else.

I'm burning Ak sub-bit in my vigilant thrown in with loads of wood. I get mine in somewhat mixed loads and I find that the pieces that are around baseball/softball size burn best. As a side note I am curious as to how it will burn in your hitzer as I am thinking of doing similar set up
Your HITZER heater is designed to burn coal with the same heavy-duty cast iron grate. When burning hard coal, we suggest the use of the nut size coal. If the chimney provides poor draft, stove size coal should be used. When burning soft coal, use either nut or stove size coal.
I would think the coal we are getting would work well in the stove.
