I recentely posted that my worm broke. After picking up anew one ,i noticed a difference. I found out that where my worm goes into the pot bushing.it actually took off the raised part of the worm that rides in the bushing and some of it is stuck inside the bushing. Any ideas of the best way to repair this problem the best way would be great. I did buy a new bushing with the pot worm. Thanks Rick

you have to knock out the old bushing and install the new one

I realize the bushing has to come out. But is it eaiser to take the whole pot out to put it in,and what works best to knock it out and put it back in. Is there some kind of stop or lip when I put it back in,how far should it set inside. Rick

It's not clear what happened. If you are trying to replace the pot bushing, its probably easier to remove the gooseneck if you already have the pipe out. Just drive the old one through; there are no stops. Install the new bushing until the edge is flush with the casting on the driven side.

They can be very difficult to remove. If I were in the business, I would have a special tool made at a machine shop for that purpose. Use Never Seize when you install the new one.

A piece of 1/2" sch. 40 iron pipe is the same o.d. as the pot bushing.
