Shutting Down 520
Well just completed the installation of my new 520... everthing went great.... all fired up today... working as expected... Then it occured to me how do I shut this thing down ( put the fire out ) if I need to do some work on it or clean it out? I don't see this covered in the manual.... anyone have a procedure?

The EFM is quite similar to my Van-Wert, it will burn for many hours after you shut it down and take quite a while to cool. Other than covering the fire pot with sand or something along those lines you can't just turn it off. Generally speaking we shut our off once a year for maintenance so its really not an issue to wait 5 or 5 hours to work on it.

Ed John, just turn the stoker off,the coal in the pot will just go out and end there. It wont keep burning into the coal tube. If you want to work on the stoker in a hurry before the pot goes out either rake out the coals into the ash tub or put a couple shovles of ashes onto the pot.No ill effects.
