By this evening the S130 will have finished off the second pallet of Blaschak pea, 4800 lbs. Roughly 1500 HDD. So far there have been no surprises.
Wow! Is this place really that big? Isn’t that a lot of coal?

It is a lot of heated area for sure. 2X a normal house. I think there is a lot of room for improvement and have suggested a blower door test to try and figure out the best place to start.

Good approach, obviously this must be a lot less money that oil but that is a good amount of coal.

That's a pretty good run!

4 Ton for Feb, Mar, Apr, and May in that part of the world in a big house sounds good.

Hit a snag...this morning the fire was totally out in the S130 and it was starting to put raw coal into the ash tub. Our current weather is terrible for chimney draft. I'm thinking between the low draft and tighter fuel bed of buck size coal the fire just didn't have enough airflow to sustain it. The other possibility is that this load of coal is lower in volatiles. We will see how it goes over the next few days.
