Hi all
I have a round door efm520 I installed 14 years ago. It was rebuilt and purchased from Steve Wilhelm. Has been the best heat we ever had.

I finally have an issue I'm not sure how to fix. Last night the house filled up with fumes. I found a hole in the short auger tube. It was 10 pm so I just put duct tape over the hole. Today I'll put a piece of sheet metal and band clamps on it as a temporary solution.

How does the tube come out? I assume it attaches to the stoker somehow. Is this something I can do in place or does the boiler need to come apart? Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Here's a post from member stoker-man. I don't know if this needs to be completed with the pot removed from the base, but the picture shows two set screws or bolts holding that pipe at the burn pot.
*Edit* Looking farther down in that thread, it looks like you can remove the bin side plate and get to that pipe easily.

Thanks. I tried searching but didn't find any info. Time to get the tube and hope I get some warmer weather to work on it.

If I remember correctly the tube is 2in sch 40 pipe for EFMs You can use black iron pipe or stainless for more longevity. Hope this helps.

Loosen up the 3 bolts on the base to pipe gasket keeper and then loosen the 2 bolts that attach the pipe to the bottom of the pot. then pull the pipe out. Sounds easy, right?

The problem is those 2 bolts in the bottom of the pot and the pipe are usually rusted into the pot. You might get lucky because Steve put that one together. He probably put anti-seize on the bolts and pipe so it might come apart without major surgery.

Also, if the pipe is wore out you should take a good look at the auger too.
