My AA130 is burning terrible, my recent coal delivery was much dirtier then normal..when I open swinging door to inspect it burning, I notice exhaust and fine ash blowing from ash pit. When I close swinging door it stops..coal is burning terrible.. do I have a partial blockage somewhere??

Do you mean the ash door, or the round fire door?

I can't imagine how anything could blow out of the round fire door. If you are talking about the ashpan door then it could be a blocked chimney or a problem with the cone at the bottom of the cyclone separator.

When I open Round fire door Don, I took apart stove pipe to inspect cone and look for blockage, no blockage...it all started with this dirty coal.

When I open Round fire door, small particles and flue gas come out of cone..

"burning terrible" is kind of vague. Could you elaborate on that? Other than what you are seeing thru the draft break plate, has there been problems with performance?

Could you post a short video of what you are seeing?

At the moment I can't post a video I have it shut down and doing a cleaning. When I did have it burning only half the fire pot was burning.. the ash pan was half Ash the other half unburnt coal and dirt, literally right down the middle?

Burning coal will always follow the air…no air no burn.
Sounds like you may have a large klinker on the grate that needs broken up. Maybe you already checked…

Another thing, With “real” dirty coal I always wonder what is not passing through and maybe collecting in the swirl chamber…needing to look behind the fan plate to see…could be a reason for dust blowing out the opened view port flapper??? 🤔

Hey guys thanks for the suggestions, I cleaned and refired AA130 back up with clean coal, and it worked wonderful..I figure the problem is just to dirty and to much fines choking the required air to flow threw the coal..the loader operator must of went a little to low with the bucket when scooping it up giving me a lot of fines and dirt..my AA130 is a 1949 that I did some minor refurbishing and have been using it for the last 14 years..
