Stoker Coal Boiler: EFM

Post by Mhowe39 » Tue. Nov. 15, 2022 8:34 pm

Hi guys,

I have an older EFM boiler. I have been having issues lately with. The auger is working fine, but the cog that turns that auger only catches about 10% of the time so it never drives the auger enough to produce enough coal to start or maintain the fire. Guessing I may need to replace the cog because it is worn out??? I appreciate any info that can be shared.

Please post a picture or video of your stoker drive. Either you are missing a part, or something is stuck and/or worn out.

Your stoker just needs a good cleaning, some fresh lube, and maybe a small adjustment. See attached video.

Free up that pawl on the left. It should stop the gear from reversing. It goes forward, then back, that pawl should ratchet the gear in one direction.
