Wind blowing pretty good from the west, right on the most leaky part of house, the kitchen. 5 deg outside with wind chill of -11. Last 36 hours gave me 25lbs of ash, for 192.3 lbs of coal burned at 5.34 lbs an hour. Im good with that. This would have been about 17gal of oil at min 5.00gal for 85.00. Last load of coal was 320.00 per ton for .16 cents per pound, so 32.76.

You probably do get better burn-out of the ash when the boiler is running hard. It might be fooling you by not filling the tub as fast even though it is burning more coal.

Merry Christmas to all. Had a bad sinus infection spent the holiday in bed with 103 fever, better now and ready for left over turkey. Last 29 hours gave 20lbs of ash, for 153.84lbs est. coal burned at 5.30lbs per hour. Avg. temp was 19.1 Neighbor lost power on Friday night, and had pipes freeze and break. Heading over to help them if i can.

It’s going around….I’m not paying attention to what I’m burning lol…. Cuz it’s trash … under heavy loads over those last few nights I checked the fire and it almost liked like burned paper with fluffy ash flaking off it almost looked like a bed of coals from a wood fire… not that I’m ready to pay inflated coal prices I’m ready for a new supplier so things get back to normal

Glad you got it under control. This cold snap was a real test for that rocket fuel you got this year. Im thankful we did not get hammered with snow like buffalo ny.

It can’t carry the output of a 260, but it is good it is carrying the load of your house. Taco 011 is a good choice.

Filled the gopher hole with 2 ton last week. Should be good to start next year. Low was 29 last night and 30 predicted for tonight. Fire height still good with the temp swings. Looks to be about an 8 ton heating season this year.

Well its getting near shutdown time. Grass starting to grow, time to see what needs to be done on the hay equipment. Last wind-tornado came through and damaged one barn. Of course it had to be my work shop. Fire height starting to get low, but seems healthy. This last load seems to be clinkering up more then last loads. Looking forward to clean out, as i am very curious to see the inside.
