Ashing cycle ahs
Third topic in 3 days first 2 were solved by forum members …. But trying to keep things separate so they don’t all blend together …. Lit stoker yesterday at 7 am put a good load on it yesterday and been cycling pretty good so far ….. I have the grate temp at 140 and grate is at 169 actual temp and seems to be doing fine but I know we are getting into the warmer season but this boiler will be running year round for domestic water heat pool and house in winter etc…. So it’s into the idle months …I have the Schneider timer controls and have them to factory settings and I timed it and it cycles 30 seconds while ashing boiler has been pretty idle today but I know it takes days to settle in but I don’t want to go to crazy messing with controls but seems fire is a bit higher than pics I seen on the forum but what direction do I want to go to maybe get cpl more seconds of ashing per cycle… I have the manual but it’s Greek to me……

Do you have a dump zone for your stoker to shed excess heat generated by the boiler??
Are the current settings on the stoker the same as the factory settings as listed in the manual on pages 17-19??
If not, perhaps you should use the original AHS factory settings for all the functions; as the boiler is new to you and they suggest watching it for 48 hours before changing any settings and the as weather is warming up you may not have many heat calls.

This is the manual I had… the one avail online I set the white dial and black dials accordingly only thing I did is bump the ash temp from 130-140 so it would ash more due to fire height…. Also I do not have a dump zone it’s plumbed primary loop constant circulation and a zone in constant constant circulation from garage to house and that’s also providing domestic … it’s actually plumbed to a 520 in my house but I plan on to isolate it totally by midsummer to do away with the 520 so that’s kind of like a dump zone now ….

It's a 260, and it's only been running for about 36 hours, and your worrying about ashing?
I would have left the ashing off for the first 12 to 24 hours to get the fire established. One important thing to remember is, you can't tell much about the fire by looking in at it. You need to do fire depth measurements with a Dip-Stick (metal rod). Poke it down through the coal until it hits the grate, leave it in there for a minute. Then pull it out and measure how much of the rod is glowing.

Watched that video awhile ago… actually had a great conversation today with Jkohanski from the forum here and we discussed ur video u shared also…. I dealt with keystoker efm etc be easier to everything except axeman or ahs but he assured me thru convo I was on the right track… and only had a few hiccups dialing it in…. As this unit is new to me…. Loaded it with a tub of ashes I had from my efm 520 and it started to show some pea coal ash

I still can’t believe you owned a 520 and decided to swap it with a Coal Gun. If you really needed the extra capacity I can understand, but unless I missed something I don’t think that is the case.
Owned a k6 and still have a dual fuel 520 in the house…. Linked with closed cell underground pex … radiant floor in the garage also for years I always tended to both boilers never circulated between both did try one season using keystoker but it didn’t have enough umphhh… yea I could use 520 to feed garage but it takes 30 ft of chute from a highlight to hit my front porch to deliver coal … 10 ton bin so 2 highlights do me for the season 3500sq house …. Bin is on other side of basement I usta lug 5 gallon pails for years until I ended up using a coal vac to move it 32 ft to 55 gallon drum … but the fun part is carrying the ashes from basement upstairs then down back to the dirt road to fill in potholes…. Not fun in winter… but I bought property next to me and plan on putting up a 44x72x16 pole barn with radiant floor so I was after a efm900 to a keystoker k12,15 ish and came across the 260 for a killer price… so I went with that… I want one unit for all more automated system….

Looks awesome. Your gonna love the 260 once you figure it out. I know mine has been a reliable friend to my family.

Very interesting as I see you are feeding the hopper with a flex-auger.

Glad you explained that. This whole time I was trying to figure out why you would go from a K6 to a Monstrous S260!MINO wrote: ↑Sun.
