- Stoker Coal Boiler: Gentleman Janitor GJ-5, Van Wert VA-600, Axeman Anderson130 X3.
- Hand Fed Coal Furnace: Harman SF3500 reduced down to 3 grates connected to its own plenum
- Coal Size/Type: Rice, Chestnut and whatever will fit through the door on the Harman
- Other Heating: Noth'in but COAL! Well, Maybe a little tiny bit of wood
I would contact Wilhelm's Northeast Anthracite Heating (570) 345-6302. They might have one from an old Losch.
If not contact Mark's Supply 570-462-0748. They stock new and used parts for old coal stoker equipment.

The hose is a copper braid with threaded ends, used for thermal expansion. A good plumbing store can get you one. You’ll need to know the size and length.

Not a direct replacement but you might be able to make it work. The Data Sheet states;Holdencoal wrote: ↑Tue. Jan. 25, 2022 7:07 pmThe hose is a copper braid with threaded ends, used for thermal expansion. A good plumbing store can get you one. You’ll need to know the size and length.

"Flexible connectors are used to absorb thermal and seismic movement,
absorb hydraulic shock, provide vibration and noise dampening,"
That means it might be able to take the shock of the Losch bump grate.

I thought the flex hose was just this and that boiler is good size.

Yes but the flex hose you linked is copper pipe with a braided flexible piece in the middle. The Losch piece is threaded black iron with a corrugated metal flexible piece in the middle. So it's not a direct replacement but you could make it work buy soldering copper threaded pieces onto it.Holdencoal wrote: ↑Tue. There's Losch parts for sale by Greg Snyder out of Shamokin PA on Facebook marketplace. Looks like he's got lots of parts.

Here are a few pictures. The equipment hanging on the wall is for radiant in the shop floor. I needed heat exchanger because the radiant heat has antifreeze and I didn’t want it mixing with the domestic water

I know this got fixed/solved, but why not a trip to any hydraulic hose store?
Hydraulic on any heavy equip is way hotter than any boiler temps, would certainly be watertight and probably cheaper than a specialty hydronic hose. just curious

It's hard to improve on the Losch. it seems they only have problems after the first 50 years of continuous use.
That's a neat auger setup! Probably works better than the auger setup that I came up with years ago. It would have worked better it the hopper was closer to the bin. The auger was geared down to match the stoker feed rate and ran when the stoker ran. When it worked, I didn't have to feed the hopper, it just filled itself. The shallow angle of the long pipe caused bridging and would destroy the gearbox.

Mine is all manual which is alright because I still have to haul the ashes. This particular Losch has been in use since 1962. The last 10 years with me. Do you burn buckwheat or rice?
