A quick story for any EFM guys . We have a few unusual installs around here . The one that impresses me the most is a duel boiler , its feeding two homes , prob 600 ft' of underground piping , and maybe 5500 sq ft of houses plus the boiler location .

Last week they had low temps and could'nt see why. The boiler that was lit had a broken burn plate. (they have two for back-up) or extreme cold.

The owner has been recovering from a bad medical issue, so the large house is heated to 77 degs now . This last weekend we had very cold temps and wind too.

So for a quick solution to the down unit with a bad burner, we lit the spare boiler, bumped the feed rate up to 7 teeth and let her eat . That did the trick. Plenty of heat and we can repair the other burner when its a nice day.

I was impressed with the out-put of that 520, and honestly could have pushed it more if needed .

Having the second unit is great for redundancy, but it sounds like one 520 could shoulder the load?

Spot on Rob ! ..... The owners grand daughter asked why he had 2 boilers while I was there. Responce; ''honey, thats for the day one of them has a heart attack''

You said the owner is recovering from a medical issue. Who was tasked with going out to light the second boiler?

If I was going to have a second boiler for backup, it would be something that could be brought online with the flip of a switch, or automatically. I wouldn't want to be out of town trying to explain to my wife how to bring another boiler online.

It's pretty much that way . His son lives in the other house, its flip two switches and light her off.
