Cannot get the grate temp above 70 deg. Been running good for 30 hrs now floors are warm. Jeff from AHS had me set the grate pause timer to 0 so that the grate will cycle when the fan runs. Since there is no signal to it due to the low temp. Anyone else experience this with a coal gun?

Have you put a load on the boiler to establish a fire? You need to make it run hard.

You've been burning 30 hours now? Axemans and AHS boilers have a very specific start up procedure to avoid a lot of grief. Can you explain the process you used to start the initial fire? If you started the fire on the grate, your problem most likely started right there.

Welcome to the forum Dude,

If this is a new install, make sure the ash temperature sensor is installed correctly and in the right place. If it's only seeing 70 degrees it must not be very close to the bottom of the 180 degree boiler.

Is this a remote install? Do you have it in a cold outbuilding? If so, it will be drawing in colder than normal air into the base. If this is the case you will need to lower the ashing temperature.

Thanks for the replies. I followed the exact procedure on start up and loaded it the best I could. Opened all the windows and set the heat to 82. Having a good fire still going good..
AHS says run it. What do u think? BTW Jeff is a great guy.

How many inches is your sensor above the grate?

Those probes can go bad... Have you tried using a lighter to see if the temp climbs with actual flame applied?

I think either thermocouple or controller has an issue. I have never seen mine behave like that.

Did you enable the ashing? it should run the grate until the setpoint is reached.

Hi Rob. It only runs when the fan is enabled (0 pause setting). Is what AHS said to do since I can't hit 130 on the grate.

Well, I am not normally one to disagree with the folks that make the equipment, but if the fire has not migrated to the grate by now, I don't think it will on its own.
