Stoker Coal Boiler: Van Wert VA600

Post by bsteckel » Tue. Nov. 09, 2021 1:53 pm

I finally had my first jam after running my va600 for several years! the top chain sprocket snapped the pin. Unfortunately, I just filled the feed bin with a ton of coal :(

where should I start in finding out where the problem is? I assume the auger is jammed but cannot see it due to lots of coal on top now. Can anyone advise how and where to start to find the issue?

Thanks in advance,
Brad

Remove the idler gear set screw, push the shaft out and remove the idler gear. This will separate the pot auger and the bin auger. You can then try to spin the bin auger. You might be able to unjam it or break whatever is stuck in it by moving it back and forth.

If not, you can pull the bin auger gear then you can push or pull the bin auger until it unjams.
