Hello and good morning fellow board members,
Question for any of the Ka-6-Kaa-6, kaa-4, kaa-4-1 or ka-2 members burning
the magic black rocks without the baffle plate?
I removed the oil burner several years ago and no longer use it and the
removable baffle of the flue breech is still there of course.
Kaa-4-1 question

I received an answer to my question about the hanging baffle plate this morning.
According to Brian at keystoker it can be removed without issue other than possibly
increasing fuel use a little.

My coal only kaa-4 has the hanging baffle too. I installed it during boiler installation and it'll stay up there long after I'm gone... No reason to take it down since it slows down the hot air and improves efficiency.

I agree with nepacoal. I take my hanging baffle out every year while cleaning the boiler. Then put it back in for the burning season.
