Good day all,
I disassembled my piping today to do some cleaning and took a peak with a mirror up the chimney just to make sure everything looked clear, which it did. However only the last few feet have terracotta lining, the rest is just brick. (2 story house). Is the liner usually more for fumes or prevention of flyash buildup? Or corrosion to the mortar? Let me know your thoughts, google search revealed next to nothing!

If you do a good chimney sweep, if it looks like it needs it. I'd go with exactly how it is.Just a grumpy old farmers suggestion.
