Well, finally giving up on my L8124A. The temp dial for High limit has been off about -10F for a while and when I adjust it, things don't seem quite right. I think I caught it continuing to fire long after temp was satisfied and no TT calls for heat.
Unfortunately, it seems to have used a good deal MORE COAL before I caught it. I had help with loading the coal hopper this year, as I couldn't do it myself.
Replacement listed by Honeywell as L7224U1002, though the box says "resideo"
I've been manually adjusting the hi and lo based on significant weather changes. Perhaps there is an Outdoor Reset in my future?
Anyone know what the W8735S1000 AquaReset Kit is? Same with W8735Y1000 (wireless version). Honeywell's site is FUBAR. Lots of broken links, missing pics, etc.
Expect to install this week.

Is your thermocouple probe set in the honeywell conductive paste??
I have had zero issues with temperature fluctuations since I have
had the L8124 in operation and used the conductive paste.

It's been several years but I recall adding paste to it before inserting into the well. The actual adjustment dials are the problem, I think. They are a bit too wobbly. That's the technical term, LOL

residio is the new name, it's the same honeywell hardware.
those are the outdoor reset kits for that aquastat. they use the envirocom (sp?) terminals, right under the TT terminals, top-left of the board. Look up those part numbers on supplyhouse.com for more info. also, the aquastat's manual has a section on the reset kits and how they ramp down the target temp.

If you do invest in one of those I would be sure to use a TRIPPLITE circuit protector as the power feed to it.

Is it really sensitive to surges and dips? Power dips are more common here.

I am only offering my insight to you in dealing 2 bad hydrolevel units that failed.
The TRIPPLITE 6 outlet unit would be good insurance in any case as long as the
tripplite and the digital aquastat unit is far from the fire door and ash pit door. Power dips and spikes are not good
for digital boiler controls. That is why I invested in the L8124L and a spare L8124
and a B+G McDonnel and Miller RB-122-E low water cut off as the low water cut
off controls failed in both of the hydrolevel units I was given.
The second hydrolevels low water cut off function turned itself off as I was standing
there watch the boiler run on oil and after that I had enough.
I have slept well ever since I had the L8124L installed.

I would not let the poor quality control of the Hydrolevel controls taint your view of the Honeywell units. If the power is bad enough to damage an aquastat it would ruin all of the appliances in your house.
