Read awhile back on the forum of a member that had a collar made up to place on the tube where the carrier bearings wear on the tube. I would like to go in that direction on mine. Looking for info and help in getting the sleeve and size of bearings.

I am able to get you a repair band if you want. There is a guy by me that retired and has some Axeman parts yet from his Hvac business.

Sorry... been busy lately lol and not a whole lot to talk about with the Axe.. Shane and I did the repair sleeve and replaced the bearings to allow for the new diameter. I'm very happy with how it turned out and the Axe has been running flawless since. The trick will be either finding a suitable sleeve, or have one made by a machine shop. There is a machine shop technician that is active here on the forum, his handle is 'CD Industries'.. His name is Chris and he made the sleeve that Shane and I are using. I'll hunt down the posts that detail the repair and post it here.

See if Chris can make you a sleeve with these dimensions or maybe he can find tubing already with these dimensions.

5" ID
5.25" OD
3" length

Note that the thickness of the sleeve will be 1/8 inch. Then split the sleeve in half with a wire saw at a machine shop, maybe chris can do that too? The reasoning to use the wire saw is because it will only remove .012" of material, this will keep the gap between the splits minimal. Unless there is a better way... I'm not a machinist so maybe I'm making this more complicated than it needs to be.

The bearings are listed in the picture. You'll need 6 of them.

Here's the link..

It might not have been urgent yet. He'll probably be back to update at some point, hopefully..

Don't mind Fred, he's just bored lol.. Thank you for the update, hopefully Chris will get back to you. If not, I gave you all the dimensions you need to have a machine shop make a sleeve for you and the new bearings you'll need in this thread. Good luck, I hope to hear that you make progress with it :)
