I have a allen stoker boiler that has a feed tub the goes directly into my coal bin. The only gripe I have with it is that the tube comes straight out of the stoker and into the bin leaving it about 2.5 ft off of the ground. Do you think there is a way I could angle this down to limit shoveling?

We would need to see how it attaches at the burner. Is it belt or gear driven? If gear drive it's going to an engineering exercise.

By your earlier picture it looks like you would not be changing anything on that Allen stoker.
My thinking goes to a second angled auger with the bin being split or even a second bin???

It's is gear driven and attaches to the pot by sliding into a hole in the side.coaledsweat wrote: ↑Tue. Apr. 13, 2021 7:14 amWe would need to see how it attaches at the burner. Is it belt or gear driven? If gear drive it's going to an engineering exercise.

The arm linkage has a dog that run the gear that connects to the shaft.

I was thinking of possiblity putting an angle at the joint just after the stoker

Gentleman Janitor stokers used a joint like you are looking for. Finding the right parts would probably be a challenge.
If it were me I would put a 55 gallon drum over the end of the auger when the bin gets low.. You will still have to handle the coal, but you should be able to go about a week without touching it.

I got several of those Gentleman Janitor tube couplings. What size is the tube in the Allen?

Funny thing. It looks like your Allen all ready has one. It just needs to be turned 90 degrees

I want to say it is 2" but im not 100% sure ill have to check when I get home, there is a joint in the screw directly underneath the coupler. finding a way to get a flex joint in there will be another task to figure out. I plan on doing this work during the summer once i can turn the boiler off for the season. Thats why im trying to get the bin as empty as possible hopefully i can turn it off by the end of the month maybe.Scottscoaled wrote: ↑Tue.
