Had a nice relaxing Saturday morning .Got up this morning at 3am, had a nice breakfast, and headed down to East Berlin, Pa to remove and load up a nice clean 1969 EFM 520.

Arrived at 7:00, drained and disconnected the power, and took it apart. Had it loaded up by 11:00 :D

Then the fun began...... shoveled and loaded up 36 five gallon buckets of rice coal and filled one 55 gallon drum, a half dozen ash tubs, and 8 of my plastic 5 gallon buckets. That was more work than removing the boiler from the basement ! :?

Jumped in the truck and was home by 3:00 :D

Round trip was 293 miles. 5 hours driving, 4 hour boiler removal, and 1-1/2 hours loading 3/4 ton of coal.

Not bad for an old man working alone.

Now it's off to the Easter Egg Hunt with the grandkids.

Paulie

EFM's aren't like stoves...you don't need one in every room.

I can't tell by the picture - is it a square door?

East Berlin was 2 minutes from my old house.

I would have stopped for some Kool aide.
Either the Gas Light or Sunday House.

Was that the one I posted in the for sale section? If it was, was it really free?

That's a pretty nice area. I was on a tight schedule to get back home, so there was no stops other than for gas. :D

Yes sir it was ! Fortunately I committed to it before it hit the forum. The seller told me he had quite a few inquiries later that day and finally marked it sold.

The EFM was free for the taking along with 3/4 ton of rice coal. The only expense I had was a tank of gas. :D.....and the coal more than made up for that.

It was raining most of the day, so all I got done was to unload the coal at the house and the boiler at the shop.

I'll unload the rest out of the trailer this week.

Only about an hour and fifteen away. I thought about it. Then I remembered 2 things. 1) I already have enough boilers around here that I am not using. 2) I'm not a big EFM fan.

I guess you will have to become the next coal stoker boiler hoarder! :D

That is not the case - Don knows he would never be be able to control himself with an EFM. He'd be evaluating 10 different air & feed rate settings per day.
