On a previous post I asked about what I think is a siezed pump in one of my infrequently used loops. Thanks Rob for your response and I will attempt to get it fixed.
But this raises a question. Is there some type of periodic maintenance that should be done so something like this doesn't happen midway through heating season?
Thanks
Pump Maintenance??

Typically that kind of thing only happens over the summer when the circulator doesn't run for months. The best thing you can do to avoid it is use good water in your system, and add some boiler treatment to prevent corrosion. You can also "exercise" the circulators a few times in the off season.

many of the new condensing boilers will have a summer exercise for pumps in their software to prevent such issues.
I have a propane boiler and efm 520 that uses the same piping system so it works out in this case .
