Has any one bought a Defro Coal boiler. It looks like its made in Poland and the efficiency is up there around 90 its showing on there specs. I'm looking to heat a 1800 sq ft space. I was wondering if they modulate like some of the EFM boilers.

We need to know more about your heating needs. Have you had a heat loss study done for this place??

Importing a boiler that burns both bituminous and anthracite coal will cost you a quite a bit more.

I brought a boiler from Europe that very similar to Defro, actually I wanted to get Defro, but didn't like their pricing....and they didn't have any advantages over boiler I got.
I am planning to replace all electronics on boiler I got, so, Defro advanced electronic isn't a real advantage.
Remember, that Defro works on 220V and 50hz. Here, in N.A we have 110 and 60hz. So, you will need a step up transformer + smth to reduce freq (something I haven't figured out yet).

Main criteria why I had decided to get a "Defro style" boiler, cuse I love an idea of heating my houses with 2 different options, firewood, and coal.
Firewood is kinda "free" on my farm, coal still costs me more compare to others on this forum.
I live in Ontario, Canada.
You may follow my topic I created, would be happy to answer any questions.

I also think they lie about 90%, efficiency. Solid fuel boilers cannot be soo good, for your 1800sq.f house- 25 kwt Defro boiler would be more then enough.
There are lot of tech details you need to know, before hooking up that boiler into your existing pipeline. Better to build your own.

How do you get a boiler by customs? I figured the EPA would be all over that.

I will look more into that option for buying this spring and I’ll get back to every one. The. 60 hertz to 50 hertz a isn’t an issue they have hertz converter on line for a couple hundred dollars for 110 or 220. I do need to get more info for heating my house. I use a wood stove to heat the house and a 30k wall mounted propane heater. The propane heater wil keep the house around 60 at mid range. I could always just buy the lower unit of something like the defro boiler and build the boiler around the unit. Has any one on here build a coal boiler from the ground up?
