Well I made a trip to Pillow PA today and picked up the aa130 that was posted about a week ago. In total it was a 7hour trip and I even got to meet Ziggy87 who was nice enough to come and help remove it and get it and the coal loaded. I wanted to stop and see his set up but time just wasn’t there today, so another day we will have to meet up again.
Overall it’s in pretty good shape, the auger is worn some so I’ll have to do a sleeve of some sort probably sooner rather than later. The dog house is in pretty good shape as well. Haven’t gotten to the cone yet..or the pressure test
Along with the ton or so of coal, it came with a air scoop, pressure tank, pump and the original paperwork which is very brittle and yellow.
Now that it’s home, I can start the cleaning and checking and installing this thing. Supply house and Lowe’s will love me for a bit...

I think he did pretty well. It does have an Ohio gear box on it which is a plus. I would say it is from the 80’s. I did look at the serial number but I forget what was stamped on it.

Well I pressured it up tonight, we have a leak at the dhw coil seal, snugged those up and it slowed, so we’ll get a new one of those. But all else looked good so far leak wise. And the gauge doesn’t work so need a new one of those too.

Clean it up good and replace the gasket. Once you fire it up, resnug the nuts weekly for a month or so. Then at least once a year, resnug them. Boilers breathe and the gasket gives up thickness, you want to stay on top of that. Once they start leaking, they are getting eaten up.

Will do. I also checked the rollers and there are some flat spots, so I need those. The cone looks good. I did find a spot that looks like it was welded on before at the base of the boiler, I need to find my wire brush and clean that area good on the next pressure test.
My plumbing supplies should start arriving tomorrow

I would pull the coil and make sure it doesn’t leak and or the copper coils aren’t rotted through. Boiler water in potable water is a bad thing. I know it’s in the garage, but still.
If you need help with a gasket there should be someone local that can cut one for you or call AA. If not I can pm you a guy I deal with for gaskets.
