Stoker Coal Boiler: Gentleman Janitor GJ-5, Van Wert VA-600, Axeman Anderson130 X3.
Hand Fed Coal Furnace: Harman SF3500 reduced down to 3 grates connected to its own plenum
Coal Size/Type: Rice, Chestnut and whatever will fit through the door on the Harman
Other Heating: Noth'in but COAL! Well, Maybe a little tiny bit of wood

Mine is 99 degrees right now. Like Ziggy said, it's just temperature bleed over from the heat of the boiler.

I agree, the boiler vessel is 160 or so degrees.. there will be conduction thru the steel.

We had an odd ball out fire last night, and had to do some sifting this am to try to save some coal, wasn’t much so I must have gone out there shortly after it happened. I emptied the ash bin, hit the coal with the mapp torch, disabled the ashing and we were off to the races in about 10 minutes.

I’m pretty sure it’s related to ashing,
