Hello diehard coal burners, { nobody else will see this }.

It's wicked hot and humid here, I'm on break so figured I would check in.

See a few posts about summer burning for DHW. My celler is stone w/dirt floor so the boiler keeps it dry.

We have 3 different EFM set-up's in 3 different homes all running 24-7 365 days, all fire only on demand of the aquastat. No timers at all.

One is a hy-bred, s-20/International , one is a hy-bred, s-20/EFM700 , one is a dual/520 tandem . They all are happy and just burn as needed. Super simple.

Anyway, just poped in to say hi. Keep cool !

Dave

Hi Dave - you should count your blessings to have 3 chimneys that draft that well in hot weather. Mine barely has any draft at all in weather like this, and needs a once per hour timer cycle to keep it going.

Hi Rob, yes true true. How did you like the B&G safety blow-off valve? It's been almost a year for 2 of them here. Wish I put them in the first time.

CC , well ....... its much better that the cave like air it had before the coal boiler was burning down there .

See you guys again in the fall !

Dave

Well, the B&G valves aren't leaking and the boiler hasn't needed any pressure relief...so that's a win win I guess. :D

Mine runs all year as well. In addition to the timer I have a draft inducer on the smoke pipe, otherwise I lose draft, chimney is fieldstone and quite thick.
On summer settings now: Timer 2 minutes every hour, 3 teeth feed, aqua stat set at 150 degrees.
