Hi all. I shut my AHS130 down last Wednesday—it is now Sunday. I wondered what the “normal” wait is until the fire goes out and cooks enough for disassembly and cleaning. Water temp is still at 120, and there is still red hot coal visible in the sight tube. I have about 1/5 of a hopper full of coal. It appears that the coal may still be falling down and burning? Not sure. Thoughts?

LOL, AHS and Axemans take a long time to die! I can shut mine down for 3 days and it will fire right up by flipping the switch. It isn't feeding coal, the fire is so well insulated it doesn't give up a lot of heat. Give it another day or 2, when the water temp starts to drops like a rock, she's dead.

Ok. Glad to know this isn’t abnormal. Maybe I just fire it back up and burn up the rest of the coal. I suppose that may allow for a better cleaning anyway.

Save some ash, you need the firetube half full when you fire it up in the fall.

I shut off my Axeman 130 last week. Two days later it was showing 170 degrees. Don't worry, in just a matter of weeks yours will be cool as a cucumber! ( I'm sure it won't be THAT long)
