Yesterday, I noticed my hot water temp was low. Low like 120.
The fire was not out. But when I took the cover off the aquastat it said error 4.
I turned the power off several times still nothing fixed or reset.
3 hours later I went and it was working and back to normal.
I'm perplexed. This never happened before.
My plumber said lets watch it before replacing it now.
Any ideas?

Many Solid state controllers may take a minute or two to come up to operation status. If a power failure occur that would happen too. I mean a blip power failure. they will restart and be non operable for a minute or two . They may do self checking for flaws .I agree with plumber see if it fail again then investigate deeper. It would be good to specifically identify the type of aquastate you have for more detailed answers

Depending on how it's wired ( and assuming it's a 7224), the timer backfeeding b1 at startup could cause this... Might want to make sure the timer is not feeding before powering up the aquastat.
