Aquastat- Is it bad?

How do you go about determining if the unit is bad? I was rereading some older posts about water temp not going above 140F even with the unit set at 160&180. They mentioned the aquastat is most likely not working properly.

To test a single aquastat thermocouple you have three tests you can perform.

You can wander over to youtube and find many good videos describing in detail how it is done.

1. resistance test
2. open circuit test
3. closed circuit test

There are several videos describing how to test a triple aquastat as well.
